Matt Lederer Joins Sirius Hotel Group as Director of Acquisitions
Sirius Hotel Group appoints Matt Lederer as Director of Acquisitions to lead expansion, targeting 30+ hotels through investments and conversions.
Sirius Hotel Group has appointed Matt Lederer as Director of Acquisitions, a newly created role aimed at advancing the company’s expansion strategy following its rebranding from Resident Hotels. Lederer will lead acquisition efforts as the group targets significant portfolio growth across key city-centre markets in partnership with capital investors.
Matt Lederer to Lead Sirius Hotel Group Expansion
In his new position, Lederer will be responsible for identifying and executing acquisition opportunities to support Sirius Hotel Group’s growth objectives. The company is pursuing an expansion plan that includes adding more than 20 hotels over the next six to ten years, with the aim of building a portfolio exceeding 30 properties.
The role focuses on sourcing investment opportunities, structuring transactions, and aligning acquisitions with the company’s broader strategy of operating prime urban hotels. Matt Lederer will also work closely with investment partners to support deal execution and long-term asset development.
Growth Strategy Focused on Conversions and Development
Sirius Hotel Group’s expansion approach includes a mix of property conversions and new developments. Planned projects include office-to-hotel transformations and repositioning existing hotel assets, alongside ground-up developments in selected urban locations.
This strategy reflects a structured approach to portfolio growth, combining redevelopment opportunities with new builds to expand the company’s presence in high-demand city markets. The acquisitions function plays a central role in identifying suitable assets and aligning them with operational capabilities.
Background in Hotel Development and Investment
Matt Lederer brings experience across professional services and hospitality development. Prior to joining Sirius Hotel Group, he held the role of Hotel Acquisitions Director at Castleforge, where he spent nearly six years sourcing and executing hotel investment opportunities.
His earlier experience includes serving as Senior Vice President at JLL, where he worked on real estate advisory and investment-related activities. He also held the position of Development Director at Marriott International, contributing to the expansion of brands including Moxy Hotels, Residence Inn, and Courtyard by Marriott.
This combination of advisory, development, and acquisition experience provides a foundation for managing transactions across different stages of the investment lifecycle.
Alignment with Rebranding and Growth Plans
The appointment follows the transition from Resident Hotels. It reflects a shift toward scaling the portfolio through structured acquisitions. Strengthening internal capabilities in acquisitions is part of this repositioning effort.
By establishing a dedicated leadership role focused on acquisitions, the company aims to accelerate deal flow and improve execution across its pipeline. The approach aligns with its objective of building a diversified portfolio of city-centre hotels supported by long-term investment partnerships.
Company Outlook and Market Positioning
Sirius Hotel Group’s growth plan is centred on expanding its footprint in urban hospitality markets through a combination of redevelopment and new projects. The focus on city-centre locations reflects demand patterns for business and leisure travel in major metropolitan areas.
Matt Lederer’s appointment is intended to support the company’s ability to identify and secure suitable assets while maintaining alignment with its operational and investment strategy. His role will be integral to advancing the group’s expansion plans and strengthening its presence in the hospitality sector.
