Kamlesh Singh, Cluster General Manager at Shervani Hotels in Nainital, Uttarakhand, has been nominated for India’s 50 Best General Managers 2026, according to an announcement made in April 2026. The nomination recognises his role in overseeing multi-property hotel operations, sales performance and team leadership across the Shervani portfolio.
Nomination and Current Role
The nomination acknowledges Singh’s current position as Cluster General Manager at Star Hotels Private Limited (Shervani Hotels), a role he assumed on September 30, 2025. He is based in Nainital and oversees operations at Shervani Hilltop and Te Aroha by Shervani.
According to the company, he is responsible for managing daily operations, sales strategies and guest service delivery while ensuring coordination across departments and properties.
Operational Responsibilities and Scope
Singh oversees end-to-end hotel operations, including financial performance, operational planning and service quality standards. His role includes supervising departmental heads, managing workforce performance and implementing operational strategies.
The company said he has introduced initiatives to improve operational efficiency, enhance service delivery and support revenue growth across the properties under his leadership.
Leadership Experience and Career Progression
Singh has more than two decades of experience in the hospitality industry, progressing from a Front Office Assistant role in 2001 to senior leadership positions. Prior to his current role, he served as Chief Operating Officer at Howard Hospitality & Wellness in 2024 and as Vice President with the same group from 2019 to 2024.
He also held the position of Chief Executive Officer at Nine Hotels between December 2024 and October 2025, where he was involved in hospitality consulting, development and operational management projects.
Pre-Opening and Multi-Property Management Experience
Throughout his career, Singh has led pre-opening hotel projects, operational setups and business development initiatives across multiple locations in India. He has managed resort and city hotel operations, including properties in Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
His responsibilities have included project planning, recruitment, licensing, operational audits and implementation of standard operating procedures across hospitality assets.
Early Career and Professional Background
Singh began his career with the Taj Group of Hotels and later worked with Ginger Hotels, a Tata Enterprise, where he handled hotel management responsibilities across multiple locations. He has also served as General Manager with several hospitality brands, including Shervani Hospitality, Clarks Inn Group and Toshali Resorts International.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Hotel Management from DAVV University, Indore, the company said. The India’s 50 Best General Managers 2026 awards, organised by Hospitality Career Profile, are currently in the nomination phase, with candidates under evaluation. The process is ongoing.
