Prakash Shankar Nominated for India’s Top 50 GMs 2026

Prakash Shankar, General Manager of Radisson Resort & Spa in Khopoli, Maharashtra, has been nominated for India’s 50 Best General Managers 2026, according to an announcement made in April 2026. The nomination recognises his leadership in pre-opening execution, operational performance and revenue growth at the 115-key resort property.

Nomination and Current Role

The nomination acknowledges Shankar’s current position as General Manager at Radisson Resort & Spa Khopoli, where he has been serving since September 2024. The property operates under Radisson Hotel Group and caters to leisure and MICE segments in Maharashtra.

According to the company, he is responsible for overseeing overall hotel operations, including financial management, guest service delivery and departmental coordination.

Pre-Opening Execution and Operational Setup

Shankar led the full-cycle pre-opening of the resort, including stakeholder alignment, recruitment of department heads and implementation of operational systems such as PMS, POS and food and beverage frameworks. He also managed licensing processes, soft launch execution and compliance with brand standards.

The company said the property achieved profitability within the first quarter of operations and recorded a 94.3% score in its first-year brand audit.

Business Performance and Strategic Initiatives

He implemented revenue strategies including dynamic pricing, loyalty programme activation and MICE business development, resulting in increased room demand and event bookings. The property secured more than 40 mid- to large-scale events under his leadership.

Shankar also led market positioning strategies and operational planning to strengthen occupancy and revenue performance while maintaining cost controls and service standards.

Career Background and Industry Experience

Shankar has over 24 years of experience in the hospitality industry, with leadership roles across Radisson Hotel Group and other international hotel brands. Prior to his current role, he served as General Manager at The World Group, Hotels & Resorts from May 2023 to August 2024, where he led pre-opening and market entry strategies for Lyfe Bhubaneswar.

He also served as General Manager at Park Plaza Ludhiana from 2020 to 2023, where he exceeded revenue targets by 18% and increased gross operating profit by 12%, according to available records.

Earlier Roles and Professional Achievements

Earlier in his career, Shankar held General Manager responsibilities at Country Inn & Suites by Radisson Goa and senior food and beverage leadership roles with Radisson Blu Plaza Mysore, Zuri White Sands Resort & Casino Goa and Goa Marriott Resort & Spa. He began his career with Taj Lands’ End Mumbai.

He has received multiple industry recognitions, including awards for new hotel launches and general management performance, the company said. The India’s 50 Best General Managers 2026 awards, organised by Hospitality Career Profile, are currently in the nomination phase, with evaluation ongoing.
