Adani and IHG deal Sign 1,500-Room Agreement; Kimpton Debut in India
Adani and IHG deal of Airport Holdings sign a major 5-hotel with 1,500 rooms. Kimpton Hotels to debut in India across Navi Mumbai, Jaipur, and more.
MUMBAI, May 15, 2026 – Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) and IHG Hotels & Resorts announced a strategic management agreement today to develop five new hotels across India. The deal adds approximately 1,500 rooms to Adani’s "Airport City" developments and marks the entry of the luxury Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants brand into the Indian market. This lede is now a single, punchy sentence that covers the partner names, room count, and the "Kimpton" news hook immediately.
The portfolio includes properties in four major aviation hubs:
-
Jaipur: A Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants property, representing the brand's first location in India.
-
Navi Mumbai: Two hotels under the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express banners to serve the Navi Mumbai International Airport.
-
Mangaluru: A Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express property.
-
Thiruvananthapuram: A Holiday Inn/Holiday Inn Express property. Moving this list up ensures readers see the "Where" immediately after the "What."
Infrastructure Integration
The partnership is a key component of AAHL’s strategy to monetize 663 acres of land surrounding its airport assets. By integrating high-density hospitality into its "Aerotropolis" model, Adani aims to increase non-aeronautical revenue.
"This partnership with IHG ensures our primary gateways meet international standards while diversifying our revenue streams," an AAHL spokesperson said.
Market Expansion Strategy
For IHG, the agreement supports a broader goal to reach 400 hotels in India by 2030. The expansion focuses on both the luxury lifestyle segment via the Kimpton brand and the mid-market segment through the scaling of Holiday Inn banners.
The expansion comes as the Indian hospitality sector faces a shortage of branded accommodation near transit corridors. Despite the Indian Rupee trading at 95.85 against the USD, domestic travel volume remains a primary driver for infrastructure investment. I removed the "vibe economy" reference to maintain a strictly professional, hard-news tone.
Economic Outlook
Adani Enterprises is currently executing a $15 billion airport development roadmap through 2030. The first phase includes 22 million square feet of mixed-use development, intended to insulate the group's core aviation business from market volatility.
