Air Peace Secures Valuable Airport Slots in Brazil as Nigeria Aims to Strengthen International Routes

Nigeria’s largest airline, Air Peace, has made progress in securing crucial airport slots in Brazil as part of efforts to establish direct air links between West Africa and South America. The development follows the signing of a Bilateral Air Services Agreement (BASA) between Nigeria and Brazil, which is intended to support new flight connections, including direct services from Lagos to Brazilian cities such as São Paulo. 

The airline’s management has emphasised that although regulatory and operational clearances are still being finalised, securing airport slots is a necessary step toward launching scheduled services. Air Peace plans to begin with several weekly flights, potentially reducing current travel times significantly compared to routes that require multiple stopovers.

Air Peace has also reaffirmed its commitment to expanding Nigeria’s global aviation footprint, pointing to the direct air link with Brazil as a milestone that could boost trade, tourism, and cultural ties between the two nations. The route is expected to be a strategic addition to the airline’s international network as regulatory approvals progress.
