MUMBAI, June 15, 2026 — An Abu Dhabi restaurant is bringing Arabian bites to India this month with a limited pop-up that highlights signature open-fire cooking and Gulf flavours.

The pop-up, led by Australian-born chef Jack Jarrott of the Michelin Guide-listed Sand & Koal in Abu Dhabi’s Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, launches in Mumbai and Gurgaon for four days in late June. Chef Jarrott trained under Gordon Ramsay and is known for culinary techniques that blend Middle Eastern and modern open-fire elements.

Sand & Koal’s pop-up menu will feature signature dishes inspired by Gulf cuisine and Arab culinary traditions, with an emphasis on grilled and open-fire preparations designed to showcase regional spices and techniques. This event marks the restaurant’s second visit to India following a previous appearance in Bengaluru.

The four-day pop-up aims to introduce Indian diners to Emirati-influenced tastes, offering a range of small plates and shared dishes rooted in Arabian flavours and local ingredients. Organisers say the event will bring a taste of Abu Dhabi’s beachfront dining scene to two major Indian cities.

Why the pop-up matters to India’s food scene

Food events featuring international chefs have gained traction in India as diners show growing interest in global cuisines. Specials like this one make foreign culinary experiences more accessible to local audiences and provide cultural exchange through food.

Local restaurateurs and food lovers note such pop-ups expand India’s hospitality calendar by spotlighting global talents and culinary trends outside of traditional fine-dining imports. Chefs like Jarrott build awareness of regional cooking styles beyond their home markets and connect with new food communities.
