AYODHYA, June 9, 2026 — Authorities in Ayodhya have completed inspections of 20 hotels and restaurants after the deadly fire at a hotel in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area, officials confirmed Tuesday.

The inspections were carried out following a directive from the state fire department after a blaze at a hotel in Malviya Nagar that killed 22 people earlier this month, Ayodhya Chief Fire Officer Mahendra Pratap Singh said.

Ayodhya Inspects Hotels and Restaurants

“We are focusing on hotels and restaurants in Ayodhya. So far, we have inspected twenty establishments,” Mahendra Pratap Singh, CFO of Ayodhya, told reporters. “Those in which we have noticed shortcomings will be issued notices and asked to rectify deficiencies immediately.”

Officials said the inspections examined fire safety measures including emergency exits, fire extinguishers, alarm systems and adherence to regulatory guidelines.

Why This Matters

The inspections come as part of a wider safety review after the Malviya Nagar fire tragedy that claimed numerous lives in a densely occupied B&B building. Following that incident, authorities across states have increased fire safety scrutiny in public venues.

Local administrators said the aim of the inspection campaign is to prevent similar tragedies by ensuring compliance with fire safety norms in public places that host large numbers of visitors.

Officials Urge Compliance

CFO Singh reiterated that establishments found lacking in safety protocols will receive formal notices and be required to act swiftly to address gaps. Fire safety inspectors will follow up to ensure corrections are implemented properly.

The inspections covered hotels and restaurants of varying sizes across Ayodhya’s urban and commercial districts.

Authorities have not yet released the names of specific establishments that received notices, but said compliance timelines will be strictly monitored.
