Clarity Targets May 1 Opening for Second Location at Reston Town Center
Award-winning Clarity plans to open its second location at Reston Town Center on May 1, featuring a 175-seat dining space, tasting menus, and signature American cuisine.
Clarity, an award-winning upscale American restaurant based in Vienna, Virginia, is preparing to open its second location at Reston Town Center, with a tentative launch date of May 1, 2026. The new outlet will span 4,500 square feet and accommodate approximately 175 indoor seats along with an additional 40 seats on an outdoor patio, marking a significant expansion for the brand.
The restaurant’s management confirmed that construction and development are progressing steadily, although the final opening timeline remains subject to operational and regulatory factors. The Reston location will replicate core elements of the original concept while introducing new menu additions and service formats tailored to the market.
Second Location Builds on Established Vienna Concept
Clarity first opened in 2015 at 442 Maple Avenue in Vienna and has since built a reputation as a high-end dining destination, earning multiple RAMMY awards. The Reston expansion represents the brand’s first additional outlet after more than a decade of single-location operations.
The new restaurant will retain the core culinary identity of the original location, offering a menu centered on upscale American cuisine. Signature dishes expected to carry over include halibut, foie gras, steaks and chops, and French onion soup. These items have been positioned as key drivers of the restaurant’s existing customer base.
At the same time, the Reston outlet will introduce localized menu variations, including new dishes and “surprise” offerings designed specifically for the new market. A dedicated to-go menu will also be introduced, expanding the restaurant’s service model beyond dine-in.
Expanded Menu Formats and Dining Experiences
The Reston location will incorporate multiple dining formats aimed at diversifying customer engagement. In addition to its standard à la carte menu, Clarity will offer a six-course tasting menu, reflecting a structured fine dining experience.
The restaurant will also cater to group dining through specialized menu options, including three-course meals, buffet-style service, and hors d’oeuvres selections. These formats are designed to accommodate private events and large parties, expanding the venue’s revenue streams.
Among the new menu highlights is a smoked Wagyu cheeseburger made with an American Wagyu beef blend, smoked chili cheddar cheese, and house-made brioche. The dish will be served with fries or a side salad, signaling an effort to balance premium offerings with more accessible menu items.
Leadership and Capacity Details
The kitchen will be led by Executive Chef Danny Ahn, who has been instrumental in shaping the culinary direction of the Vienna location. The expanded footprint at Reston will enable the team to serve a larger volume of guests while maintaining the brand’s established standards.
With a total capacity of approximately 215 seats, including indoor and outdoor areas, the new outlet represents a significant scale-up from the original location. The 4,500-square-foot layout is designed to support both high-volume service and private dining experiences.
The addition of patio seating also aligns with broader dining trends favoring outdoor and flexible seating arrangements, particularly in mixed-use developments such as Reston Town Center.
Strategic Expansion into Reston Town Center
The decision to open in Reston was driven by the area’s ongoing development and growth potential, particularly within the Reston Town Center (RTC) Next expansion. The nearly completed extension toward Sunset Hills Road is expected to increase foot traffic and attract new businesses to the area.
Clarity’s management indicated that the location offers a balance between growth opportunities and a community-oriented environment. The brand has reported a positive reception from local stakeholders and residents during the pre-opening phase.
To mark the launch, the restaurant is planning a series of opening events, including invitation-only dinners for local officials, community organizations, and existing customers from its Vienna location.
Broader Development Activity at Reston Town Center
The opening of Clarity forms part of a broader wave of hospitality and retail expansion at Reston Town Center. The management group behind Clarity is also working on an additional project in the area, with plans to open a second location of Dogfish Head Alehouse later in 2026.
The Dogfish Head expansion follows the group’s acquisition of the brand’s existing location in Gaithersburg, Maryland, earlier this year. The move indicates a multi-brand growth strategy within the Reston market.
Other concepts expected to join the development over the coming year include Toastique, Paris Baguette, Grazie Nonna, Grazie Grazie, Livewell Animal Hospitals, and Yunnan by Potomac Noodle House. This cluster of openings reflects increasing investment in mixed-use dining and retail environments.
Clarity’s Reston launch highlights a measured expansion approach by established independent operators, leveraging strong brand equity while entering high-growth urban centers. The restaurant is currently in its final stages of preparation, with its official opening anticipated in early May.
