HYDERABAD, June 27, 2026 — Recent food safety inspections in Hyderabad have uncovered numerous hygiene violations at several eateries, prompting enforcement actions and improvement notices from authorities.
Teams from the Cyberabad Municipal Corporation (CMC) and the Hyderabad Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) conducted surprise inspections at restaurants and food outlets across multiple localities this month, finding poor sanitation, pest presence and improper food storage.
Inspections reveal hygiene shortfalls at key establishments
During inspections in Kukatpally, officials found rats, clogged drains and uncovered food at the Platform 65 restaurant, recording a score of only thirty-seven percent on hygiene compliance and recommending suspension of its FSSAI licence after major violations were noted.
At other locations, teams detected cockroach infestations, broken floor tiles and unhygienic kitchen environments at Hotel SVM Grand in Bachupally, prompting improvement notices to the management.
Earlier this week, H-FAST officials inspected a fast food outlet in Mallepally and found it operating with an expired trade licence and using artificial food colours during food preparation. Food samples were collected for laboratory testing as legal action began.
Public health concerns drive enforcement
Food safety officials say violations ranging from lack of proper medical fitness certificates for staff to mould-affected ingredients have emerged during these inspections, including reports of mould growth on produce and inadequate water testing reports at some eateries.
Authorities have issued notices to restaurant operators to address the shortcomings and comply with food safety norms under the Food Safety and Standards Act. Persistent non-compliance could lead to stricter measures, including licence suspensions or closures.
Officials urge adherence to hygiene standards
Telangana food safety officials stress the importance of basic sanitation, pest control and proper food storage as essential elements of public health protection. Inspections form part of a broader effort to ensure that food businesses maintain standards that reduce risks to consumers.
Officials encourage all establishments to regularly review and improve hygiene practices and maintain accurate documentation, including licences, pest control records and staff health certificates, to ensure compliance with statutory requirements.
