Lough Erne Resort Ranked Northern Ireland’s Top Luxe Golf Resort in Europe

Lough Erne Resort has been named the highest-ranked resort in Northern Ireland in Golf World’s inaugural Top 100 Luxe Resorts Europe ranking, securing the 33rd position among leading golf resorts across Continental Europe, Great Britain and Ireland. The latest recognition highlights the resort’s combination of championship golf, luxury accommodation, hospitality, amenities and guest experience, reinforcing its position as one of Europe’s leading golf and leisure destinations.

Ranks 33rd in Golf World’s New European Luxe List

The newly launched Golf World Top 100 Luxe Resorts Europe ranking recognises destinations where high-quality golf is complemented by premium hospitality, accommodation and overall guest experience. Lough Erne Resort achieved 33rd place, making it the highest-ranked resort from Northern Ireland in the inaugural edition of the European list.

The ranking was compiled by Golf World’s Top 100 Courses and Resorts together with an expert judging panel. Resorts were evaluated across four categories: golf courses, accommodation, amenities and setting, with the final list recognising destinations that deliver a complete luxury resort experience both on and off the golf course.

Recognition Follows Global Golf Resort Ranking

The European accolade follows another milestone for the resort earlier this year when Lough Erne Resort climbed 11 places to secure 65th position in Golf World’s Top 100 Golf Resorts in the World ranking. Achieving recognition in both global and European rankings during the same year marks another significant achievement for the Fermanagh-based property.

The latest rankings further strengthen the resort’s standing among established international golf tourism destinations and reflect continued recognition of its hospitality and golf offerings.

Championship Golf Courses Anchor Resort Experience

Located in the Fermanagh Lakelands, Lough Erne Resort is home to two championship golf courses. The Faldo Course, designed by Sir Nick Faldo, was recently recognised among Golf World’s Top 10 Parkland Courses in Great Britain and Ireland. The Castle Hume Course has also built a strong reputation, having hosted 10 Ulster PGA Championships while welcoming golfers across different skill levels.

Beyond golf, the luxury resort offers accommodation, dining experiences, spa facilities and lakeside surroundings that contribute to its overall guest experience, all of which formed part of the judging criteria for the European ranking.

Barry McCauley, Director of Golf at Lough Erne Resort, said receiving recognition in both Golf World’s global and European rankings during the same year reflects the commitment of the resort's team. He added that being recognised as Northern Ireland’s highest-ranked resort in the new European list acknowledges not only its championship golf facilities but also its accommodation, hospitality, amenities and scenic setting.

Mark Ward and Jeff Mahan of TRU Hotels and Resorts LLC, which operates the resort, said the latest accolades reinforce Lough Erne Resort’s position as one of Europe’s premier golf and leisure destinations. They noted that recognition on both global and European stages reflects continued investment in delivering a high-quality guest experience.

Luxury Resort Continues International Recognition

Lough Erne Resort is a luxury hotel and golf destination situated in Northern Ireland’s Fermanagh Lakelands. Alongside its two championship golf courses, the property offers luxury accommodation, spa experiences and multiple dining options.

The resort was acquired in 2015 by Lough Shore Road Limited, a joint venture between Advantage Capital Holdings, Inc. and TRU Hotels and Resorts LLC, which also manages the property. The latest Golf World recognition adds to the resort’s growing list of international accolades as it continues to strengthen its profile within Europe's luxury golf tourism market.
