JACKSONVILLE, Fla., June 9, 2026 — Prospect Five Points, the wine bar and restaurant at 1521 Margaret St. in Jacksonville's Five Points neighbourhood, will close permanently on Sunday, June 28, after five years of operation. The business announced the closure on June 9 via social media, citing a difficult trading period and staffing challenges as the primary reasons for the decision.
The closure ends a run that began in January 2021, when Prospect opened inside a century-old building that had previously housed Safe Harbor Seafood Riverside, Marah Brewing Co., Five Points Tavern and O'Brothers Irish Pub. The venue now becomes the latest in a series of concepts to come and go from that address.
Owners Cite Slow Season and Staffing Struggles
"Unfortunately, this is not going to be a post any of us wants to see," the business wrote in its Facebook announcement. "However, it is only fair we give everyone an opportunity to come enjoy Prospect Five Points one last time before the end. Sunday, June 28 will be our final day open."
The post described a sustained period of pressure leading to the decision. "Business has been rough this last year and we have done all we could to stay open. With the slow season coming, unfortunately we are unable to do so," the statement read, also referencing staffing difficulties as a contributing factor.
The owners acknowledged their loyal customer base directly. "We appreciate and love everyone who has been able to share in the wonderful experience that Prospect is, and has been," the post concluded.
A Menu Built Around Shareable Plates and Craft Wine
Prospect Five Points built its identity around a food-forward wine bar concept that emphasised shareable dishes alongside a curated wine programme. The menu featured flatbreads, Ahi Tuna and Avocado Stack, Beef Short Rib Sliders, Hot Honey Chicken Sliders and Chicken Lollipops among its most popular items.
Heartier mains included White Truffle Gnocchi with Grilled Chicken and Sausage and Pepper Bucatini, giving the venue range beyond standard wine bar fare. Brunch service ran on weekends from 11 a.m., while the restaurant opened at 3 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday for its regular service.

The Latest Departure in a Neighbourhood Facing Headwinds
The announcement follows a similar closure notice from another Five Points business. Malachi's Ice Cream Bar posted on June 2 that it would shut its doors on July 31 after more than three years in the neighbourhood, signalling broader pressure on independent operators in the area.
Prospect's opening in January 2021 was itself the product of months of delays during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. The venue took over a building with a long history of hospitality use and managed to establish a following over the five years that followed. Its departure leaves another vacancy in a stretch of Margaret Street that has seen significant turnover across the past decade.
