The aircraft was identified as as airbus registered as P‑IEP, which was part of the national carrier’s narrowbody fleet. Reports indicate the aircraft was parked at the airport when the strike occurred, leaving it damaged beyond repair chances.
The strike reportedly targeted infrastructure at Bushehr Airport, a facility that serves both civilian aviation and military operations. The airport’s dual‑use status has made it a strategic location during the ongoing military tensions in the region.
Fleet data suggests the aircraft was approximately 24 years old and had previously served several airlines before joining the iran air in 2019. The aircraft had recently operated a flight to Bushehr but had not departed again before the strike occurred.
