Major Commitment to Nigeria’s Hospitality Future

The initiative represents one of the most significant hospitality investments announced in Nigeria in recent years. The planned hotels will span multiple market segments, including midscale, upscale, and luxury categories, catering to both domestic and international travelers.

The partnership reflects growing confidence in Nigeria’s tourism and business travel potential as international hotel brands continue to expand across Africa’s largest economy.

Hospitality Academy to Develop Local Talent

Beyond hotel development, Accor and Shoreline intend to establish a dedicated hospitality academy focused on training and developing local talent. The program is expected to create approximately 1,000 direct jobs while helping address the industry's growing demand for skilled hospitality professionals.

The academy will provide career opportunities for young Nigerians seeking employment in hotel operations, guest services, management, and tourism-related sectors.

Expanding Accor’s Nigerian Footprint

Accor currently operates four hotels in Nigeria with a combined inventory of 654 rooms. The company already has five additional properties in its development pipeline.

Among the upcoming openings is Mövenpick Abuja, scheduled to launch in the third quarter of 2026 with 138 guestrooms and 36 serviced apartments. Another key project is Novotel Victoria Island Lagos, a 162-room property expected to open in mid-2027.

Growing Competition Among Global Hotel Brands

Nigeria has become an increasingly attractive market for international hospitality companies. Global operators including Radisson Hotel Group, Hilton, and Hyatt are actively expanding their presence across major Nigerian cities.

Radisson plans multiple openings in Abuja and Benin City, while Hilton and Hyatt continue advancing new projects in Lagos, Abuja, Enugu, and Kano.

Strengthening Africa’s Tourism Infrastructure

The Accor-Shoreline partnership is expected to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s tourism infrastructure while supporting broader economic development goals. Through new hotel developments, workforce training, and international brand investment, the initiative aims to elevate hospitality standards and attract greater visitor spending.

As Africa’s tourism sector continues to recover and expand, large-scale projects such as this are expected to play a key role in shaping the continent’s future hospitality landscape.
