Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield has appointed Sijo John as Director of Finance, reinforcing its leadership structure amid increasing industry focus on financial governance, forecasting precision, and profitability management. John brings over 15 years of experience in hospitality finance, including more than 13 years within the Marriott International portfolio.

Role and Responsibilities as Finance Leader

Sijo John will lead financial operations at the property, overseeing budgeting, compliance, strategic planning, and overall financial performance. His mandate includes strengthening financial controls, improving forecasting accuracy, and aligning financial strategy with long-term business objectives.

He will also be responsible for driving profitability initiatives, managing cash flow, and ensuring adherence to regulatory and corporate financial standards.

Sijo John: Career Background

Prior to this appointment, John served as Director of Finance at JW Marriott Bengaluru, where he handled financial strategy in alignment with both operational priorities and ownership expectations. His experience reflects a strong track record in managing large-scale hospitality financial operations.

Throughout his career, he has held multiple finance leadership roles across Marriott properties. These include Financial Controller and Assistant Financial Controller positions at JW Marriott Bengaluru, Assistant Financial Controller at Fairfield by Marriott Whitefield, and Finance Manager roles at Bengaluru Marriott Hotel Whitefield and Fairfield by Marriott Bengaluru.

He began his career as a Finance Executive at Courtyard by Marriott Kochi Airport and has also gained international exposure through his work at Zitahli Resorts & Spa.

Sijo John's Expertise and Specialisation

John specialises in financial planning, forecasting, P&L management, cash flow optimisation, compliance, and capital expenditure planning. His expertise extends to strategic business planning and operational financial alignment within luxury and upscale hospitality environments.

He holds an MBA from ICFAI University and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from St. Aloysius College, supporting his technical and managerial capabilities in financial leadership.

Sijo John's Recognitions and Achievements 

During his tenure with Marriott International, John has received multiple recognitions for his performance. These include the Owner Relationship Award at the South Asia Finance Conference 2025 and Finance Breakout Summit 2023, along with the APEC Quarterly Award (Q1 2024) for Forecast Accuracy in the luxury segment.

He was also recognised with the Cash Flow Excellence Award at the Bengaluru Market Annual DOF Meet 2024 and the Leadership Award at JW Marriott Bengaluru in 2023.

Operational Experience and leadership perspective 

Sijo John has handled complex financial environments, including overseeing operations during a Corporate Insolvency Resolution Process between January 2024 and January 2025. This experience highlights his capability in managing financial stability during critical business phases.

His appointment reflects Sheraton Grand Bengaluru Whitefield’s focus on strengthening financial leadership as hotels prioritise structured financial management and operational efficiency.
