Sun PhuQuoc Airways has increased its registered capital to approximately USD 505 million, a fivefold jump from its original USD 99 million investment base. The move comes just six months after the airline launched commercial operations in November 2025, and signals an aggressive push toward fleet expansion and international growth.

Six months old and already rewriting its own financial plan. That pace tells you everything.

What the Money Is Actually For

Sun PhuQuoc Airways has set itself a target of 100 aircraft by 2030, 60 Airbus narrowbodies and 40 Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with an ambition to carry 20 million passengers annually and generate USD 2 billion in revenue by the end of the decade. At USD 99 million in registered capital, that plan was always going to need a significantly larger financial base behind it. The capital raise to USD 505 million is the airline essentially building the runway its ambitions require.

As of February 2026, Sun PhuQuoc Airways was operating 10 aircraft including five A321neo ACFs, up from a fleet that launched with just a handful of jets. The gap between 10 aircraft and 100 in four years is enormous, and closing it costs money well before ticket revenue catches up.

From One Island to Seven Asian Markets

The airline did not spend its first six months waiting. Sun PhuQuoc Airways flew its first international service to Taipei on March 29, 2026, operating the Phu Quoc–Taipei Taoyuan route five times weekly on an A321neo. That was just the start. By the end of 2026, the airline plans to operate nine international routes connecting Phu Quoc with Bangkok, Busan, Hong Kong, Kuala Lumpur, Mumbai, New Delhi, Seoul and Singapore. This is not a regional island hopper slowly finding its feet. It is a leisure carrier building an Asian network at a speed that most established airlines take years to achieve.

The Bet on Phu Quoc Itself

Sun PhuQuoc Airways is not just an airline, it is a vertically integrated tourism play. Parent company Sun Group is simultaneously investing in expanding Phu Quoc International Airport, developing resorts on the island, and building the airline that fills them. The airport expansion alone carries a total investment of nearly USD 870 million across two phases running from 2025 to 2030. Every seat Sun PhuQuoc Airways fills is also a guest landing in a Sun Group resort.

That structure explains why the capital raise happened so fast. This is not an airline betting on aviation alone, it is a conglomerate betting on an entire island.
