MYSURU, June 15, 2026 — A restaurant-pub fire kills two employees and injures seven others in a blaze late Monday, officials said, as fire crews battled heavy flames at the scene.

Fire officials said the fire broke out at the Golden Spoon Pub & Eatery on the city’s Ring Road around 8:30 p.m. Local authorities have launched a full investigation into the cause of the fatal restaurant-pub fire.

Restaurant-Pub Fire Claims Lives and Prompts Safety Review

The restaurant-pub fire killed two staff members identified by police as 26-year-old Sahin Darjeeling and 24-year-old Prakash Lama from Nepal, both employed in the kitchen area. Seven others were taken to a nearby hospital with serious injuries, including the pub manager and several customers.

Mysuru Fire Brigade Chief Aravind Kumar said responders were on the scene within minutes of the alarm and found heavy smoke and flames. “We immediately began evacuation and firefighting efforts,” Kumar said in a statement. “Our teams continue to work with police to determine the origin of the fire and ensure safety at similar establishments.”

Emergency Response and Ongoing Investigation

Emergency crews evacuated more than four dozen patrons and staff as the blaze spread through the central kitchen and adjoining bar area. Firefighter Meera Singh, who helped conduct rescue operations, said teams located the bodies of the two workers in a kitchen section where the fire appeared to intensify.

Hospital officials said the seven injured individuals are in stable condition, receiving treatment for burns and smoke inhalation. “We have dedicated staff monitoring all patients,” said Dr. Sampath Rao, Medical Superintendent of Mysuru General Hospital. “Their condition is being closely observed.”

Safety Concerns After Deadly Blaze

Local safety inspectors have temporarily closed the restaurant-pub and sealed the site for forensic examination. City officials are reviewing fire safety compliance records and will examine whether fire exits, suppression systems and safety training met regulatory standards.

The restaurant-pub fire has raised concerns among nearby business owners and residents. “This tragedy highlights the importance of strict fire safety practices,” said local resident Anjali Nair, who lives near the pub. “We hope authorities enforce measures that prevent future incidents.”
