Chinese Airlines Eye Return to Kolkata Airport With Possible April Restart

Chinese airlines are planning to resume flights to Kolkata as early as April, which could restore direct air connectivity between eastern India and several cities in China.

Before the suspension of services in recent years, Kolkata had direct air links with multiple Chinese destinations. These routes played an important role in supporting trade, tourism, and business travel between eastern India and China.

Officials connected with Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport have indicated that discussions are underway regarding the return of Chinese carriers to the city. If finalized, the flights could restart during the upcoming summer schedule beginning in April.

The possible resumption comes at a time when international air travel between India and several global destinations is gradually stabilizing after previous disruptions. Restoring the China–Kolkata routes could help strengthen economic ties and improve connectivity for travelers in the region.
