SpiceJet eyes to generate an estimated INR 185 crore in revenue from its Haj flight operations in 2025. The airline has secured exclusive rights to operate these flights from four key Indian cities — Kolkata, Guwahati, Srinagar, and Gaya — carrying nearly 15,500 pilgrims, an 18 percent increase from the 13,000 pilgrims flown in 2024.

For the upcoming season, SpiceJet will operate over 100 special Haj flights, deploying both narrow-body and wide-body aircraft to accommodate the increased demand. The airline, which has been handling annual Haj operations since 2019, regards this as a crucial part of its business strategy.

SpiceJet's shares eroded initial losses to trade 0.4 percent higher at INR 62.15 apiece in Mumbai trading, while BSE Sensex was down 247 points or 0.3 percent in morning trade.

“Haj operations are not just a significant revenue generator for SpiceJet but also a matter of immense pride. We are honoured to contribute to such an important and spiritual journey for thousands of pilgrims and are fully committed to delivering a seamless, comfortable, and memorable travel experience,” said Debojo Maharshi, chief business officer, SpiceJet.

In the 2024 Haj season, SpiceJet used two wide-body Airbus A340 aircraft, each with a capacity of 324 passengers, ensuring smooth travel for pilgrims. The airline has promised to further enhance its services for 2025, focusing on comfort and efficiency for the travelers.

Haj flights have proven to be a consistent revenue stream for the airline, complementing its broader operational portfolio, the company said.
