New Delhi, June 18, 2025: Air India is facing major flight disruptions after beginning safety inspections across its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet, following a recent crash near Ahmedabad. As a result, the airline has cancelled more than 80 widebody international flights, creating challenges for passengers during the busy summer travel season.
The decision comes in response to internal safety protocols and guidance from aviation authorities, as engineers conduct in-depth checks to ensure aircraft integrity. Though the exact cause of the crash is still under investigation, Air India has prioritized caution by temporarily grounding select aircraft.
Most of the cancelled flights are on international long-haul routes, especially those connecting Delhi and Mumbai to major cities in Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Air India has issued travel advisories and is working to rebook affected passengers or offer full refunds. Travelers are urged to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
