Dublin, June 19, 2025: Budget carrier Ryanair has rolled out a new policy imposing a fixed £500 fine (approximately $675) on passengers removed for disruptive or unruly conduct mid-flight. This move comes amid a global surge in airline incidents driven by in-flight disorder and alcohol misuse.
As part of the initiative:
Crew have the authority to request payment or secure a hold for the fine before allowing the passenger to leave their flight.
The airline reserves the right to pursue additional civil claims if the passenger’s behavior causes damage or costs beyond the penalty.
Staff will enforce zero tolerance during boarding, in-flight service, and upon landing.
Ryanair CEO stated the measure is part of a broader effort to maintain a safe travel environment, discourage bad behavior, and support cabin crew. Industry analysts note that while fines for disorderly passengers aren’t new, Ryanair’s flat-rate approach and public enforcement may set a new standard for low-cost carriers.
Travelers are advised to respect crew instructions, manage alcohol consumption, and follow cabin safety protocols to avoid penalties and disruptions.
